Meta-heuristics for generation of linguistic descriptions of weather data: Experimental comparison of two approaches

•In this work we propose two metaheuristic algorithms for generating linguistic descriptions of data.•We proposed fuzzy quantified statements involving three well-known quantification models.•We describe extensive experimentation with two real meteorological data sources: observation and forecasting.•We compare both approaches in terms of their performance and quality of the descriptions generated.•We perform tests of statistical significance for assessing the differences between both algorithms.
