Identifying a Role for Epigenetic Reader Proteins in Opioid Use Disorder

Recent studies have shown that epigenetic reader proteins, called Bromodomains and Extra terminal Domain (BET), are increased in the nucleus accumbens following cocaine self-administration and pharmacological inhibition of BET proteins decreased cocaine-seeking behaviors in rodents. However, the role of BET proteins in animal models of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) remains unknown. Here, we investigated a role for BETs in an animal model for OUD.
