Drugs repurposing: An approach to identify new hits against anticancer drug target TFIIH subunit p8

•Using biophysical methods, drug repurposing of 60 US-FDA approved drugs for their ability to destabilize p8 subunit of TFIIH complex which is an anti-cancer drug target.•11% of the drugs showed interactions with p8 subunit as identified via STD-NMR and Chemical Shift Perturbation studies.•These fragments destabilize p8 protein by negatively shifting its Tm in thermal shift assay.•Docking studies showed interactions of these drugs with important residues of p8-p52 complex.
