Piezoelectric polarization promoted spatial separation of photogenerated charges in Bi2MoO6 catalyst and investigation of its synergistic photopiezocatalytic activity

•The strain-induced piezoelectric field in Bi2MoO6 promotes the separation of charge carriers.•The photopiezocatalysis shows higher activity than photocatalysis and piezocatalysis.•The synergistic photopiezocatalysis of Bi2MoO6 can degrade different pollutants.•The possible mechanism of synergistic photopiezocatalysis is proposed.
