Single-question parent-reported global atopic dermatitis severity: A valid instrument in children

To the Editor: Although many outcome measures were developed or validated for use in atopic dermatitis (AD),1,2 none assess all aspects of severity. Holistic assessment of AD severity with multiple measures can be time-consuming and challenging to incorporate into clinical practice. Alternatively, AD severity can be assessed by patients or parents by rating their impression of the overall disease severity using a single question. We determined the construct validity of parent-reported global AD severity (PrtGA) in determining pediatric AD severity.
