•Realizing lasing action in Si nanowires on the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform.•The threshold 23.75μW/cm2 is much lower than mW/cm2 order one of plasmon nanolaser.•Meeting requirements of the industrial scale production and nanolaser integration.
