Diabetes, antidiabetic medications and risk of depression – A population-based cohort and nested case-control study

•Danish patients with diabetes type 2 had a 14% higher risk of later depression.•Use of metformin, DPP4 inhibitors, GLP1 analogs, and SGLT2 inhibitors were associated with lower depression risk.•Higher doses of insulin and sulfonylurea were associated with higher risk of depression.
