Activation of hydrogen peroxide, persulfate, and free chlorine by steel anode for treatment of municipal and livestock wastewater: Unravelling the role of oxidants speciation

•Na2S2O8, NaOCl, and H2O2 activation by iron anode were optimized.•HO•, SO4•− and FeIVO2+ were generated depending on oxidant and wastewater.•Non-targeted screening unravels the fate of micropollutants and transformation products during the EAOPs treatment.•Identified by-products were associated with effluent toxicity.•Electrochemically activated H2O2 could be the best alternative for wastewater treatment.
