Single neutron tracking method for calculating the probability of survival based on the RMC code

•An innovative single neutron tracking method for calculating POS based on the Reactor Monte Carlo (RMC) code is proposed.•Both new and traditional methods for calculating POS are developed in RMC.•The new method does not need to control the number of particles which is a better method than the neutron bank tracking method in terms of accuracy and user friendliness.
