摘要
•The reduction pretreatment of CuO-Co3O4 catalysts enhances their N2 selectivity a lot, and the mechanism transforms from L-H to E-R after reduction.•[N] free radicals are proved to play an important role in reaction by DFT calculations. And the desorption of [N] decides the N2 selectivity of catalysts.
