摘要

•MdMa13 is localized in the tonoplast.•MdMa13 overexpression increased the contents of malic acid, citric acid and organic acids in tomato fruits.•MdMa13 overexpression increased malic acid contents in apple calli and the apple fruit.•MdMa13 enhances the transcript levels of acid-related genes such as MdMa1, MdMa11, MdVHA-A3, MdVHA-D, MdDTC1, MdDTC2 and MdtDT.
