Root hair quantification is an accessible approach to phenotyping important functional traits

Although root hairs are recognized as a major component of root function, difficulties in quantification limit the study of root hairs on a sufficient scale for ecological and agronomic relevance. Recently developed methods facilitate such studies. We highlight the results found with such methods in ), extending their analysis to demonstrate how the impact of various root hair traits can be parsed at a population level, enabling population studies of root hair traits.
