摘要
•Pulmonary Embolism (PE) - related mortality has increased in the United States among younger and middle-aged adults.•It is unclear if previously reported increases in PE-related mortality were evenly distributed among age subgroups.•We found that individuals 25-39 years old had the highest increases in PE-related mortality between 1999 and 2019.•Conversely, recent death rates decreased or plateaued among individuals older than 70.•This research provides a foundation for future investigations targeting PE surveillance and diagnosis among young adults.
