Predicting delamination of hybrid laminate via stress modification on interlaminar matrix layer

•Delamination behavior of metal-composite hybrid laminate is simulated through stress modification on inserted interlaminar matrix layers.•Delamination occurs once modified interlaminar matrix layer stresses attain a tensile or shear failure.•Delamination growth is implemented by deleting the failed matrix layer elements.•Only the critical displacements at the peak loads of the DCB and ENF tests on the laminate is required.
