ROMP of norbornene and oxanorbornene derivatives with pendant fluorophore carbazole and coumarin groups

•(Oxa)norbornene monomers containing carbazole or coumarin as pendant fluorophore groups are synthesized.•Fluorescent polymers are developed by ruthenium-catalyzed ring-opening metathesis polymerization.•Appropriate monomer design and high stereoregularity degree of the main chain can be used to improve polymer optoelectronic properties.
