Massive MIMO Channel Feedback Compression in 5G context: Compress Sensing or Lossless Compression

Massive MIMO is one of the key enabling technology for 5G and beyond Networks. It can provide very important data rate, high spectral and energy efficiency. Nevertheless, there are still things to improve such as the compression of the important Massive MIMO channel state information overhead which can introduce latency in the system. This paper propose an alternative to the compressed sensing feedback overhead compression in the event that the massive MIMO channel sparsity level is unknown or supposed to be important as in urban or dense urban area. The proposed feedback overhead compression is based on dictionary coding and its compression ratio oscillates between 95.5% and 96.9% in 5G context.
