The Application and Progress of Polymorphism of Myostatin Gene in Scientific Identification of Talent Athlete

Myostatin,a member of the transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) family,is a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth.The animals with mutation of myostatin gene and loss of its function have a marked increase in muscle mass and phenotype of double muscle.The development of polymorphism of myostatin gene was reviewed and application of this gene polymorphism in the field of sports medicine was prospected.As a good marker gene,the association studies of its sequence polymorphism and muscle mass and strength have significant meaning.The main purpose is to provide a theoretical basis and new way for scientific identification of talent athlete,and a reference for further study in the field of sports medicine.
