Wettability of Molten Ni on Al_2O_3 Ceramic at 1773 K

Wettability of molten Ni on polycrystal alumina substrate was observed at 1 773 K in an Ar+3%H2 atmosphere using an improved sessile drop method.Contact angle was measured and analyzed,adhesion work between Ni and Al2O3 was caculated.The initial contact angle of molten Ni on Al2O3 substrate is 115°,then decreases including rapid decrease and slow decrease to the stable angle 100.8°—101.3°,the adhesion work is 1 431 mJ/m2.Products such as NiO,Al2NiO4 and AlNi3 are formed in the interface of this system.The wettability of molten Ni on Al2O3 substrate is reaction wetting.
