Quality of life in Parkinson's patients and its related factors

Objective To investigate the quality of life(QOL) in the patients with Parkinson's disease(PD) and its related factors.Methods The QOL in 31patients with PD and 31 elderly with non-PD were assessed by neurological physicians.By the figure,we tested the validity and reliability of the WHOQOL-BREF,Activities of Daily Living Scale(ADL),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale(PSQI),Hamilton depression scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),mini-mental state examination(MMSE),assessed the state of QOL,sleep,depression and anxiety.Results The in QOL,sleep,depression and anxiety state and ADL in the patients with PD were worse than those in the control group(P0.05 or P0.01);QOL in patients with Parkinson's disease were negatively correlated with their sleep disorders and depression severity of the scores.Conclusion Treating sleep disorders and depression aggressively,enhancing psychological intervention at the same time are main methods to improve the QOL in patients with PD.
