Novel Gysel power dividers based on Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide (HMSIW)

This paper presents novel Gysel power dividers by combining Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide(HMSIW) power dividers and microstrip-based isolation networks, which achieve the isolations between two distributing ports and high power-handling capability. The proposed Gysel power divider has SIW sections, two HMSIW sections, microstrip network and adaptors between SIW/HMSIW to microstrip for measurement with coaxial connectors. The proposed concept is investigated and analyzed by using even-odd method. For demonstration, a prototype is designed, fabricated and measured. Good performances were observed experimentally, showing the advantages of proposed concept and an excellent candidate for high power-handling HMSIW/SIW circuits or systems.
