摘要
Introduction: Embolosclerotherapy and surgical interventions for complicated and refractory head and neck vascular malformations can be challenging owing to the complex anatomy and presence of vital structures, including the airway and major nerves. Inhibiting mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) prevents downstream protein synthesis, cell proliferation, and angiogenesis. Recently, studies have shown that sirolimus, an mTOR inhibitor, is clinically efficacious in the treatment of some low flow vascular malformations but with potential side effects.
