Electro-Thermodynamics Modeling of Aluminum Smelter Load Based on Direct Load Control

The aluminum smelter load is a kind of high-quality thermal storage characteristic load, which will not affect the production quality of electrolytic aluminum if the power is cut off for a short time or the operation parameters are adjusted. In addition, the individual load of aluminum smelter load is large, which is convenient for centralized control. Therefore, it is of great significance to bring the aluminum smelter load into the direct load control. In this paper, the basic working principle of aluminum smelter load is analyzed. On this basis, the electrothermal characteristic model of aluminum smelter load is put forward, which can quantitatively describe the relationship between input power and electrolyte temperature, and provide load control constraints for the direct control of electrolytic aluminum. The feasibility of aluminum smelter load participating in direct load control is verified by simulation example.
