Environmental Economic Equilibrium Method for Anaerobic Digestion of Kitchen Waste

Based on the characteristics of Chinese food culture, kitchen waste in China occupies the main part of municipal solid waste, and leads to serious environmental pollution and health problems, which needs to be harmlessly treated and utilized resourcefully effectively. Anaerobic digestion technology is an effective way to reduce kitchen waste and realize waste to energy. Therefore, this paper aims to utilize advanced anaerobic digestion technology for kitchen waste disposal, considering the whole front-end collection, transportation and treatment system. In order to optimize the treatment and management process, a mathematical multi-objective programming model was established to realize revenue from electric energy products and to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, through an case study, the applicability and effectiveness of the model in determining the quantity of kitchen waste disposal, generating income and controlling greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are verified. Meanwhile, the influence of different technology composition on the target is analyzed, and some important conclusions and practical suggestions are given to provide guidance for kitchen waste disposal management and greenhouse gas emission reduction. This paper found that, the combination of effective KW treatment technologies and policies can effectively realize the sustainable development of circular economy and society.
