Possibilities to Control the Diffraction Q-factor in Cavities of Subterahertz Gyrotrons

摘要
An important problem in the gyrotron progress into the terahertz range is the increased requirements for the precision of fabrication of electrodynamic systems. It is shown that even minor inaccuracies in cavity manufacturing of a subterahertz gyrotron can significantly decrease the output power level. We propose a method for controlling the diffraction quality factor to reduce the influence of a weak taper of the cavity’s cylindrical part on the operation regime.
