Performance Analysis of Subcarrier Index Modulation for FrFT-OFDM System

To reduce the inter-carrier interference (ICI) and bit error rate (BER) of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems based on fractional Fourier transform (FrFT-OFDM), subcarrier index modulation (SIM) is utilized in this paper. The fractional factor p of FrFT is also explored. According to theoretical analysis results, p = 2 is the optimal fractional factor for FrFT-OFDM in time and frequency selective fading channel. The result of simulation shows that SIM achieves a lower bit error rate than traditional FrFT-OFDM.
