AMG Signals Acquisition Method

Acoustic myography (AMG) and surface electromyography (sEMG) signals were widely explored techniques for the characterization of muscle activity, the control of external devices such as exoskeletons and prostheses. Several comparative studies have been carried out and they have demonstrated that AMG has advantages over sEMG. In this pilot study, AMG signal will be investigated. AMG signals have been recorded using 4 high sensitivity microphones placed on the surface of the forearm of four healthy participants when the participants performed six different classes hand movements. The collected AMG have variable amplitude levels depending on the microphone location on the forearm and also the movement type performed by the subject.
