In the construction practice of nuclear facilities, medical institutions and other special structures, special construction concretes are used. Basalt, limonite, serpentinite, chromite, hematite, barite and metal aggregates and others minerals are used as fillers. However, the most effective materials for radiation protection are metal hydrides, in particular titanium hydride. A limiting feature of its use as a filler is its low operating temperature. Increasing the thermal stability of titanium hydride will make it possible to use this material to obtain a new generation of radiation-protective building materials.
