Percutaneous Interventions for Acute Pulmonary Embolism

Catheter-directed therapy is now acknowledged as a valid treatment option for select patients with acute massive or submassive pulmonary embolism (PE). Therefore, interventionists should understand the rationale, data, indications, contraindications, and available treatment options for acute PE. This chapter reviews all of the above with an emphasis on percutaneous PE interventions.
