The Genetic Parameters of Growth Traits and Breeding Value Estimation in Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides)

This chapter introduces the growth-related quantitative genetics of largemouth bass. Firstly, the growth and developmental patterns of cultured largemouth bass are presented, and then the influence of morphological traits on the body weight is introduced to provide a basic reference for the management and breeding of cultured largemouth bass. In the end, a one-to-one reproduction method is used to establish full-sib families, and the animal model of the best linear unbiased prediction method was used to estimate the heredity parameters for their growth traits in largemouth bass. The estimations of heritability and breeding values can provide a theoretical basis and technological support for the selective breeding of largemouth bass.
