Terracing and Contour Farming

One of the major challenges in proper land management is limiting surface runoff and sediment loss. Crop production by its very nature involves disturbing the soil. Therefore practical approaches that support crop production while effectively protecting the soil are needed. Two such practices that help to accomplish this include terracing and contouring. Today's advances in precision conservation offer improvements in properly locating terraces and in maintaining acceptable contour grade in the field.
