The diaminoquinoline (IV), prepared from the chloronitroquinoline (I) and the aniline (II) and subsequent reduction, is cyclized by reaction with formic acid (V), NaNO 2 (VII), or CS 2 (IX) to give the five‐membered heterocycles (VI), (VIII), and (X).
