The Case | Hypereosinophilia in a hemodialysis patient

A 73-year-old man with end-stage kidney disease due to presumed diabetic nephropathy began hemodialysis in July 2020. He was referred with severe hypereosinophilia, which was progressively worsening since September 2020, with a peak eosinophil count of 40.7 × 109/L (normal, <0.5 × 109/L). A retrospective analysis of hemograms before the onset of dialysis showed a normal eosinophil count.
