Efficacy and safety of istradefylline for Parkinson’s disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis

•Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder for the selective degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, characterized by severe motor symptoms.•Istradefylline is one of the adenosine receptor A2A antagonists emerging as the potentially important non-dopaminergic agents to treat the motor symptoms of PD patients.•The evidence showed that istradefylline exhibited an efficient and well-tolerated function in treating PD patients.
