A rapid HPLC–MS/MS method for the simultaneous determination of luteolin, resveratrol and their metabolites in rat plasma and its application to pharmacokinetic interaction studies

•A method to quantify LUT, LUT-3′-G, RES and RES-3-G was developed and validated.•The method has a shorter analysis time and requires a lower volume of plasma.•Effects of RES on the bioavailability and metabolism of LUT were studied.•RES improves the bioavailability of LUT after coadministration.•RES slows the metabolism of LUT by reducing the major glucuronidation metabolite.
