Rapid determination of metanil yellow in turmeric using a molecularly imprinted polymer dispersive solid-phase extraction and visible light spectrophotometry

•Precipitation polymerization was applied for preparing MIPs.•MIP with the highest extraction efficiency for metanil yellow was selected.•Metanil yellow was extracted using the MIP in the optimized condition.•MIP-SPE/UV-spectrophotometry determined metanil yellow in turmeric at 0.1–10 ppm.
