•Most of the ARHSPTCC patients with SPG 11 mutations have abnormal pattern reversal visual evoked potentials (prVEPs).•81.82% of subjects with SPG11 mutation spastic paraplegia (ARHSPTCC) have significantly prolonged P100 bilateral responses.•spatacsin has a role in the visual pathway.
