A Profit Maximization Strategy of MEC Resource Provider in the Satellite-Terrestrial Double Edge Computing System.

The introduction of Muti-Access Edge Computing (MEC) into Satellite-Terrestrial integrated network can effectively guarantee Quality of Experience (QoE) of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, increasing the flexibility and robustness of the whole network. In this paper, a novel profit maximization model of MEC resource provider in the Satellite-Terrestrial double edge computing system is established, where Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite MEC server can augment computing capability of overloaded terrestrial MEC server. The entire problem is decomposed into two sub-problems, i.e., offloading strategy and satellite resource allocation problems, then a joint optimization method of base-station task execution order and satellite resource allocation is proposed to approach the two subproblems. Experimental results verify that the proposed strategy can significantly increase the profit of MEC resource provider while satisfying QoE requirements of computing tasks.
