•We examine a onetime intervention for transdiagnostic emotion dysregulation.•The intervention combined cognitive restructuring and neurostimulation.•Participants were randomized to fMRI guided active or sham neurostimulation.•Active neurostimulation enhanced emotion regulation in the moment.
