•HPLC-Orbitrap lipidomics of irradiated meat was used for the food safety purposes.•Irradiation of chicken, turkey and mixed ground meat resulted in lipidome alterations.•Chicken, turkey and mixed ground meat were distinctly influenced by irradiation.•Characteristic oxidized phospholipids were identified in turkey irradiated meat.
