•Integrated transcriptome and proteome revealed heat responses of A. acidoterrestris.•Peptidoglycan and fatty acid composition were modified to obtain intact cell surface.•Terminal oxidases, cytochrome bd and aa3, in respiratory chain were upregulated.•Heat induced ribosome hibernation and higher ratio of initiation factor to ribosome.•Heat caused lower dissolved oxygen solubility and imbalance in cellular redox state.
