PD-L1: Can it be a biomarker for the prognosis or a promising therapeutic target in cervical cancer?

•We discuss the potential role of PD-L1 and it’s inhibitors in cervical cancer occurrence and development systematically.•We discuss the possible regulation mechanisms and the controversial prognostic significance of PD-L1 in cervical cancer.•Data support that PD-L1 inhibitors have significant effects in some specificconditions, and it’s precise clinical complication may be more effective.•We propose some strategies that may be the major research directions in the future.
