Order reduction using invasive weed optimization

The order of single-input-single output (SISO)-linear time invariant (LTI) systems is reduced by applying Invasive Weed Optimization (IWO) algorithm. The integral square error (ISE) between the transient responses of original system (HOS) and resultant system of reduced order (LOS) is opted as an objective function. To achieve the model with reduced order as close approximation of higher order system, objective function is minimized. The step and frequency responses of reduced order model and original system are compared with previously available researched techniques in the literature. The results and comparisons reveal that the ISE is minimized to a great extent by applying IWO and comparably best results are obtained.
