摘要
By the end of its second implementation phase in 2018, the Global Earthquake Model initiative aims at completing the construction of a global hazard and risk model. GEM, in collaboration with a large global community of research institutions and national organizations, is creating a mosaic of hazard models representing for every area the most recent and openly accessible information. The hazard models composing this mosaic are in the majority of instances created within international scientific projects, or by national agencies tasked with updating their official national hazard model. In a small number of cases GEM is creating temporary models for areas where it was not possible to establish collaboration with local scientists; these models will hopefully help in establishing partnerships in the near future. All the hazard models included in the GEM global mosaic are described using a uniform format compatible with the OpenQuake engine, GEM's hazard and risk calculation software. This allows comparisons between different components of the earthquake sources included in various models (e.g. the scaling of fault lengths in active shallow crust) as well as between the ground motion models selected in different models for similar tectonic regions. In this contribution we report on the progress made recently in building the global mosaic, we illustrate the envisioned structure of the mosaic and we present some comparisons between the main characteristics of components of the earthquake source models collected.
