The Feasibility of Building 1024 & 4096-port Nanosecond Switching for Data Centre Networks Using Dilated Hybrid Optical Switches

We propose a new 16x16 butterfly dilated hybrid switch. Recursive dilated Beneš and Clos-4-Beneš architectures based on this achieve a 4dB power penalty floor reduction in a 1024-port switch over existing hybrid schemes. A 4096 port switch is proposed with a 12dB input power dynamic range of a penalty less than 3dB.
