摘要
Background: WHO (World Health Organization) announced on March 11, 2020 that the new coronavirus is equivalent to a pandemic. It is also important to take measures at medical institutions where extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) cannot be used. Objective: The purpose is to analyze the patient background, severity, and outcome of COVID-19 patients and to develop a treatment intervention policy at our hospital. Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of electronic medical charts of 84 inpatients with a definitive diagnosis of COVID-19 for 1 year (March 11, 2020 to March 11, 2021). We investigated age, gender, underlying disease, smoking history, severity, name of using drug, and outcomes. Results: Average age is 58.4 years (range 13-90), gender (male / female) (63/21), underlying disease (with / without) (48/36), smoking history (with / without) (48/36). The severity was (mild / moderate I / moderate II / severe), (15/37/28/4). One severely ill patient was transferred to other hospitals under mechanical ventilation and died. Discussion: It is important to create a flow of treatment intervention policy at facilities where ECMO cannot be used.
