摘要
Overall, hormonal options or long-acting reversible contraceptives [LARC] were rarely used with each reporting 12 (3.3%), respectively. 91 (45%) reporting recent sexual activity were nonusers. Associations were found between contraception use and younger age (P = 0.042), higher body mass index (P = 0.041) and higher household income (P = 0.015). No association was found with ethnicity, parity, education, housing, employment or smoking. Conclusion Most fertile women reported recent sexual activity. Almost half were not using any contraception. Non-reversible and methods with high failure rates were used by the majority, despite the known gynaecological benefits of hormonal methods and high efficacy of LARC. Cost and perceived fertility may influence the use and choice of contraception in midlife Singaporean women.
