Objective: To evaluate knowledge and skills of health workers through an adapted Basic Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care (BEmONC) seminar/workshop to partly address the high maternal mortality rate in Manila City. Method: A “before and after” study using updated information in maternity care was conducted in a seminar for 80 maternity care health workers from locations with highest maternal deaths. A pre-test and post-test on knowledge of obstetric care topics was performed. The seminar modules covered respectful maternity care, handwashing, sanitation and hygiene, prenatal care with danger signs recognition and hospital referral of 6 Editorial material and organization © 2020 Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
