The impact of soft-skills training for entrepreneurs in Jamaica

•This study designs two training programs focusing on soft skills, which are adapted to the Jamaican context.•The study evaluates these programs using a randomized controlled trial design involving 945 entrepreneurs in Jamaica.•The study finds significant short-run effects on business outcomes of an intensive soft-skills training, but no effects after 12 months.•The study finds no effects for women or for a training combining soft skills and hard skills.•The study shows that the soft-skills training has persistent effects on self-reported and incentivized measures of soft skills.
