Influence of season and habitat on birds in a mid-altitudinal village ecosystem of Kailash Sacred Landscape-India

•Mid-altitudinal mountain village ecosystem supports diverse avifaunal species.•A total of 95 species belonging to 32 families were observed. Among them, 48 are Himalayan endemics, 15 are Oak forest specialists, and 30 are migratory (altitudinal/local and long-range)•This village ecosystem provides necessary habitats to various conservation dependent and priority species.•Agricultural land is the most bird species rich and diverse across all the seasons; among seasons, spring was the richest for birds in this village ecosystem.
