A novel gene order and remolded tRNAs revealed in the mitogenome of Asian gecarcinucid freshwater crabs (Brachyura, Gecarcinucidae)

•We firstly presented the complete mitogenomes of four species in two genera of gecarcinucids from China, Laos and Myanmar.•A novel mitochondrial gene order pattern was discovered in gecarcinucid freshwater crabs which contains a total of 42 genes.•The phylogenetic tree reconstructed using the secondary structures of 22 orthologous tRNAs provides insights into the evolution of the remolded and duplicated tRNAs.
